I wonder why? They're wonderful and graceful aircraft!

Is this something you have noticed overall, or just from the site? I bet there are a bunch out there, we just have to find them.

Maybe because they're a bit more unpredictable - can't always fly where they want?

It's pretty easy to write in planes and helicopters... If somebody goes abroad they will use an airliner, if you want to make a short trip you will charter a light plane or helicopter, the police use helicopters in chases and searches etc.

There are just more contexts in which planes and helicopters can be used in productions. Gliders, microlights etc are based more on having fun and casual use which is less likely to be written into something.

I've found one in a TV series. Can't get a decent version of this show for contributions to here and IMCDb though.

Visible from 1.40 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WB2m9Bg4OlQ
And a few more briefly at 35 seconds in the second clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nModlb3B ... re=related

The fiberglass one is a Schleicher ASK-21 trainer. And it's currently the most popular training glider in the world.

The older glider parked is an ASK-13.
