Figures in a Landscape movie poster.

Movie (1970)

Starring:
Robert Shaw (MacConnachie)
Malcolm McDowell (Ansell)
Henry Woolf (Helicopter Pilot)
Christopher Malcolm (Helicopter Observer)
Andy Bradford (Soldier)
Warwick Sims (soldier)

Two prisoners, MacConnachie and Ansell, have recently escaped captivity. They flee through the desert in an effort to reach the border before the sadistic crew of a pursuing helicopter can track them down.

Aérospatiale SA 318C Alouette II

This helicopter pursues MacConnachie and Ansell throughout the film. Similar to the later Capricorn One, the helicopter becomes an almost primal enemy for the heroes to overcome as they struggle to survive in the wilderness. This is especially true of MacConnachie, whose desire to kill the pilot becomes an obsession. Although MacConnachie succeeds in killing the gunman riding in the helicopter, the pilot guns him down and only Ansell escapes safely across the border. Registration XZ-2B2.
