A prize racehorse, Shergar, is kidnapped from his owners by the IRA. Shergar is given to a farmer sympathetic to the terrorists but the man's adopted son, a young stable boy, bonds with him and decides to help him escape.

Garda Síochána helicopter. Used in the search for Shegar after he is taken by the IRA.
