CGTA-Air Algérie is the result of merge between Compagnie Générale de Transports Aériens (CGTA) and Compagnie Générale Transatlantique-Services Aériens (operated through Compagnie Air Transport) in May 1953. The company operated scheduled and seasonal routes between Algeria and France, Palma, Switzerland. With independence of Algeria in 1962, the company becomes the national flag Air Algérie .
