Max Klein (Jeff Bridges) survives a plane crash without beeing injured. He is also able to help some other passengers, so they believe he is a guardian angel. After the crash Max thinks he is invulnerable. His psychologist Bill Perlman (John Turturro) brings him together with Carla Rodrigo (Rosie Perez), hoping Max is able to help her handle the lost of her baby, which had died in the plane crash.
