Curtiss-Wright C-46 Commando
Curtiss-Wright C-46 Commando of CAT-Civil Air Transport, a unique airline formed after World War II in China by two ex-generals of the USAAF. The history of CAT is marked by adventure and international intrigue during the Chinese civil war between Chiang-Kai-Shek nationalist forces and communists Mao Zedong new army. In 1950, the CAT was bought by the CIA as transport airline for civilian appearance by flying scheduled passenger flights while simultaneously using other aircraft in its fleet to fly “specific” covert missions.
