Light from a passing comet reduces almost all of humanity to reddish dust. Only a handful of people including Regina Belmont and her sister Sam survive by remaining indoors. As Reggie and Sam search for other survivors they don't realize that some people have "survived" as crazed killers, including a group of scientists who are capturing survivors to drain their blood.
