Mysterious murders are committed in a mine in the town of Kitamatsu in Kyushu. At first seeming to be the work of an insane mine worker, the true culprits are eventually revealed as gigantic prehistoric insects called Meganurons. The search to find and eradicate the Meganurons uncovers a giant egg, which hatches into Rodan, a huge, pterodactyl-like dinosaur which flies at supersonic speeds and threatens all of Japan.
North American / Mitsubishi F-86F Sabre
One of these on a scouting mission encounters, and is destroyed by, a UFO later discovered to be Rodan. Later, several are scrambled to fend off the beast en-route to Fukuoka. Except for studio cockpit shots and some stock footage of USAF Sabres, all of the jets are scale models.
Sikorsky S-51
Used to scout out Mt. Aso. Mostly depicted as a model except in some interior shots shot in a real helicopter in the studio.
