When Ken Boon rushes into a burning building to save a child he severely damages his lungs meaning that he is forced to retire from his job as a firefighter. Ken, a big fan of cowboy stories, becomes a modern day lone ranger, riding through the Midlands on his trusty steed 'White Lightning' (a BSA motorcycle), helping people. Through the series Ken works as an odd job man (using a newspaper advert asking for interesting and legal work), a motorcycle courier, a private detective and a security consultant. He is aided by his best friend and fellow ex-firefighter Harry an entrepreneur who gets engaged in many scrapes which Ken has to bail him out of and Rocky, on the surface an intimidating, leathers-clad biker who is really a soft and sensitive lad.
