Ivan Travkin leads simple and quiet life in the small Soviet Union's village. One day, when he visits the dentist with a sore tooth, it turns out that he has 33 teeth - one more than all other people. This means a complete revolution in life of our protagonist, who is quickly created, by hungry for success propaganda, a national hero. Travkin is invited to the capital, where meets various key figures and gives TV interviews, there are even plans to send him into the outer space. One thing, however, remains unsolved - this tooth still hurts so terribly...
