Maarten Meinema is appointed as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs when his predecessor dies unexpectedly. But when all sorts of political skeletons fall out of the closet and one crisis after another presents itself, he has great difficulty winning the trust of his staff. When it also turns out that he is plagued by personal demons, the pressure increases to a great extent.
