Model kit of a DFS 230.

The DFS 230 was a German assault glider drawn just before World War 2. Despite great success (battle of Fort Eben-Emael (Belgium, May 1940) then assault on Crete in May 1941), losses were heavy and the glider was actually used mainly for transport purpose. In more limited numbers but still highly effectiveness, the DFS 230 was used in the rescue of Benito Mussolini (1943) or against Maquis des Glières (French Résistance, summer 1944). Despite production stopped in 1941, airframes flew until the last weeks of the war, more and more often to bring supplies to surrounded German troops.

More 1,600 DFS 230 were built.

This page lists all films that feature a variation of the DFS 230.
