This color tourist promotional film was produced in 1951.. The film was produced and copyrighted by American born Andre de la Varre, who became a leading travelogue filmmaker of short films. In the 1930’s, Andre de la Varre created a short film series called “Screen Traveler”, of which this is one. In the 1950’s, his films enjoyed a second life as educational material, being reissued and updated for copyright in 1951. The film was narrated by “The Voice of Air France”. It is a tour of North Africa: Tunisia, Algeria and Marocco.

Registration F-BAZQ, c/n 2512. Delivered new to Air France in July 1947. Leased to Air Vietnam in December 1955. Sold to Royal Air Maroc in October 1957, registered CN-CCR. Wfu in June 1963 at Anfa, Casablanca (GMMC/CAS) used for ground training. Broken up in June 1975.

Registration F-BAZL, c/n 2538. Delivered new to Air France in September 1947. Leased to Air Vietnam in December 1956 until August 1956. Wfu in November 1960. Leased to Air Inter from March to October 1961, then to Tunisair. Sold to Senegal Government in March 1966, registered 6V-AAR from Armée de l'Air Sénégalaise. Sold to Aéro-Club Air France in October 1973. Broken up in July 1979 at Toussus-le-Noble, France (LFPN/TNF).

Continuity error when landing at Aéroport de Casablanca (Mohammed V International Airport مطار محمد الخامس الدولي Maṭar Muhammad al-Khamis ad-Dowaly (CMN/GMMN) nowadays) [See discussion tab (2)]. The aircraft changes to a Douglas C-54 Skymaster.
Registered F-BBDA, c/n 42909. Delivered new to Air France in April 1946, named Ciel de Bretagne. Leased to Air Afrique from August 1961 to March 1964, registered TU-TBF. Returned to Air France as F-BBDA. Sold to Air Comores in November 1974. Sold to Force Aérienne Tchadienne in May 1978, registered TT-NAD.
Douglas C-54A-15-DC Skymaster
Another continuity error in one turn of the camera, change to another registration and plane.
Registration F-BELF, c/n 10398. Delivered to USAAF in 1944, registered 42-72293. Sold to Royal Netherlands East Indies Army Air Force, registered NI-450. Sold to Royal Dutch East Indies Airlines, registered PK-DSA, then to KLM. Bought by Air France in April 1948, registered F-BELF, named Ciel de Bretagne. Sold to Lina Congo, wfu and broken up in 1967.
