Kingdom of Libya Airlines was founded in September 1964 as government-owned National flag after merge of Libavia and United Libya Airlines. The company started operations in 15 Aug 1965 as Royal Libyan Airlines shortly after renamed to Kingdom of Libya Airlines. Serving Athens, Cairo, London, Malta, Paris, Rome and Tunis with Sud Aviation SE 210 Caravelle and domestic destinations with Fokker F27 Friendship.
The early years saw Air France providing the company with technical assistance, KLM managing the sales and reservations, and BOAC taking care of traffic, finance and communications.
In September 1969 when military ousted the King, airline was renamed to Libyan Arab Airlines.
