Written off after a gear collapse at Christiansted Harbor Seaplane Base, St Croix on 14 November 1970. This footage is therefore either archival or was filmed just before said accident.
In the background are several Grumman G-21 Gooses and one larger four-engined flying boat seen at right. This is Sikorsky VS-44A registration N41881, c/n 4402. Eventually sent to the New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks, Connecticut, is has been restored and is the only surviving VS-44.
