This page is about the 1984-1986 TV Series, Airwolf. For the 1984 TV Movies, see Airwolf.
TV Series (1984-1986)
Starring:
Jan-Michael Vincent (Stringfellow Hawke)
Alex Cord (Michael Coldsmith Briggs)
Ernest Borgnine (Dominic Santini)
Jean Bruce Scott (Caitlin O'Shannessy)
A pilot flies a high-tech helicopter in various missions for a secretive government agency.
Season One
Bell 222 (Modified)
The high tech helicopter of the title flown by Hawke.
Registration N3176S; Serial number 47085.
Bell 206B JetRanger III
The Santini air chopper.
Registration N2044C; Construction Number 3363.
Same helicopter in other productions at IMPDb: Frequently Seen Aircraft.
Another JetRanger is seen in 1.05 when Hawke (as an unwitting accomplice) is used as a pilot in a heist.
Registration N2766Y; Serial Number 2761.
Skyfox Corporation Skyfox
In 1.02 this is a top secret military prototype that the firm fear is going to be sold to the Russians.
Civilian Registration Registration N221SF.
Lockheed T-33 Shooting Star
Seen in the background in 1.02 at a US airbase.
And another one in episode 1.11 at the Aircraft Boneyard at Mohave Air and Space Port.
Republic F-105 Thunderchief
Also from 1.02.
Unidentified Aircraft
Seen at Van Nuys Airport in 1.02.
Various Aircraft
Aerial shot of an American base in 1.02.
Hughes 369D
The typical bad guys helicopter. These appear in many episodes of the series, often the same birds reused.
The first appearance of a 369D is in 1.03 'Bite of the Jackal' used by forces sent to capture Airwolf.
In 1.04 a 369 is also used by enemy forces. This time Russians.
In 1.05 a 369D is used (not by the bad guys for once!) by a stunt pilot filming a movie who proceeds to crash.
Registration N58428; Serial 1290624D IMPDb: Frequently Seen Aircraft.
This chopper is also seen in 1.08.
For shots of the crash see IMPDb: Aircraft Crashes
In 1.09 a number of 369s are used by mercenaries lead by an old Vietnam war buddy of Hawke's, Marty Vidor. Here is a group shot.
Sikorsky S-55B
An antique helicopter Dom has to deliver to a customer in 'Bite of the Jackal'. A charge is mounted in the engine, causing it to crash land.
Reg N91AS; C/N 55646
Cessna T210M Turbo Centurion
Seen in the background at Van Nuys Airport when Dom takes off in the Sikorsky above
Registration N761CU; C/N 210-62157
Bellanca 7ECA Citabria
From 1.03 - Seen in the background inside the Santini Air Hangar. Registration N4212Y; Construction Number 119877.
Seen again in 2.04.
Bell 206L-1 LongRanger
Archangel's Chopper also seen in Airwolf. Sometimes a standard length JetRanger is shown instead.
Seen prominently in 1.04.
Also seen in 1.03.
In 1.11 another LongRanger is seen, or is it just the Archangel chopper sporting another elaborate paint job? It is used by D.G Bogarde, a government official desperate to take Airwolf back from Hawke.
North American F-100 Super Sabre
As Russian enemy aircraft described as MiG 23s in 1.04.
Also seen in 1.02. The stock footage used is mostly the same between the two episodes. Note the error in the screen describing the aircraft as a MiG 23S 'Flogger-B'... the 23S was referred to as 'Flogger-A'.
North American F-86 Sabre
Also from 1.04 and meant to be a MiG 23 but I think it is a different type of plane from above.
The second of the two "MiG" escort fighter jets that pursue Airwolf. It is obviously a different plane from the one above.
Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker
This refueling rig appears twice in the episode as Airwolf refuels to get to Russia. The pilot and co-pilot speculate as to what the aircraft they are refueling is. At the end and to resolve a bet they ask another member of crew to check. When he tells them it is a helicopter they question his sanity.
Boeing-Stearman A75N1 (PT17)
Our first Stearman is seen in 1.06 'Echoes from the Past' flown by Peter MacGregor-Moore, a mercenary Hawke knows, who claims to have information on his long missing brother, Saint John.
Another is seen in episode 1.11 'To Snare a Wolf'. It is used by Toni Donatelli, a pilot who wants to get a job at Santini Air and is trying to impress Dom.
Registration N68405; Serial 75-7759.
Lockheed C-130 Hercules
From 1.06 when a group of mercenaries kidnap Hawke and take Airwolf. The Hercules is used to transport them to Libya.
Earlier on in the series another is seen in the background at a military base in 1.02.
Dassault Mystère
From 'Echoes of the Past': This is supposed to be a Libyan Airforce "MiGs" which is escorting the Hercules transporting Airwolf. When Airwolf escapes from the Hercules' cargohold they pursue and Airwolf blows it out of the sky.
Mystere IV?
From 1.08 'Mad Over Miami'
Also in the Series Two episode Fallen Angel to portray East German 'MiG 25s'.
Douglas A-4 Skyhawk
From 1.07, these American fighter aircraft are owned by arms dealer Hans Daubert and he sends them to chase after Airwolf.
Vought F4U Corsair
In 1.09 these rather old aircraft are used by the North Limbawe Air Force. They engage in a dogfight with the Hughes 369s seen in this episode. A similar aircraft (probably the same) attacks the twin-prop featured in 2.05 The Hunted.
Boeing B-52 Stratofortress
Stock footage of B-52s are shown in 1.11 'To Snare a Wolf'. In this episode String and Dom are working with the army to create a training video. The B-52s are bombing a patch of desert for this video.
Bombs away!
Douglas C-133 Cargomaster
In 1.11 String needs to hide Airwolf from US military satellites used by D.G. Bogarde to hunt for it. His hiding place is an Aircraft Bone Yard (played by the bone yard at Mojave Air and Space Port). In this bone yard we can see a couple of scrapped C-133s. They appear to be N136AB and N136AR.
BAC 111-401AK One-Eleven
1.11. Registration N128GA, serial 058.
Douglas DC-8
Again from 1.11, a further scrapped airliner in the Mojave Bone Yard. Formerly of Japan Airlines (JA8002), but currently N420AJ, serial 45419 - a DC-8-32.
From 1.11. DC-8-53 of ALM Antillean Airlines. Registration N121GA, serial 45632.
Various Aircraft
The last picture from 1.11 and the first series is an aerial view of the Mohave Air and Space Port Bone Yard.
Season Two
Unidentified Aircraft
Seen in 2.01 Sweet Britches and 2.02 Firestorm in the background.
Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee
Background aircraft seen in 2.02 Firestorm.

Fighter jet seen briefly in 2.02 Firestorm.
Also seen briefly in 2.03.

A fighter jet seen in Moffett's Ghost. When it is seen in the air it is another fighter listed above.

Used in 2.07 Fallen Angel as the second biplane which is used in the dogfight against String and Dom.
